It is a saw that does all of the basics very well with great reliability, customer reviews and support from the network of Dewalt dealers.
For the keen DIY enthusiast we think this is a brilliant mitre saw. The Dewalt DW777 review has ranked in the past at number 2 on our top ten table for a number of reasons, it has a very robust build quality so will last for many years, it has some great features for superb quality cuts and it is a fantastic value saw offering a professional standard at an affordable price. If you buy the DW 777 you will only need to buy a mitre saw once. Great for beginners or an excellent upgrade from the budget models for the budding carpenter that requires a more comprehensive cut.
If you like the look of this model but don’t want to spend quite as much we highly recommend the Lumberjack SCMS210SB 8″ compound mitre saw which gives fantastic value for money and a great quality cut.

The Main Features
Below we a will have a look at the features that the saw offers. Have a look through and see if they measure up to the requirements of the jobs that you have in mind. If it is the one for you click through to check some great prices.
Design
The DW777 is designed as a classic pull down style cross cut mitre saw, it is the style that most of us are familiar with and has lasted the test of time. The action is simple and there is not a great deal to go wrong. This design makes the saw easy to use and you don’t need to be an expert to set it up. There is no mistake that it is Dewalt with the yellow handles and robust build quality.
It is designed to be a compact saw that can be easily stored an moved around but still with a large cutting capacity with the cleverly designed internal rail. For tradesmen that are transporting multiple tools this is important and for the DIY enthusiast with limited space at home this is a handy design.
The tough aluminium body also makes the saw very light to move which is handy on a busy site. Coming in at 14 kg, moving this will be no problem and is light compared to most cheaper models.
The Cut
The Dewalt DW777 216mm cross cut mitre saw will give you a great cut every time. It is powered by a 1800 watt motor which is more than enough for cutting through most materials. The bigger motors are required to tackle tougher materials like metal. It makes much easier work of jobs than the 1300 watt DWS773 (aka DWS773-gb) or the 1400 watt DWS774.
This is a single bevel saw that allows you to cut bevels to 48 degrees which is more then enough for most jobs. The single-bevel angle is easy and quick to adjust making multiple cuts of different angles nice and easy.
The mitre angles go up to 50 degrees on both the left and right side which again is more then enough for most cuts, especially for those of us that are doing general cutting jobs that require accuracy and a nice finish.
The maximum cutting depth is a good 80mm (3 inches) which allows you to work with some pretty robust pieces of material for outside and inside work. The sliding bar allows a maximum width of an impressive 265mm for cutting the wider planks. This will cut all of the biggest timbers apart from the largest construction pieces that will need a bigger saw, giving a very versatile cut.
Safety
The safety aspect is very important for the professional standard saws that are in use all of the time and this has some good features for the price point.
The dust extraction is designed specifically to meet the requirements of regular and heavy use, helping to keep the air clean and healthy. Working in a dusty environment for eight hours a day is very unhealthy so you need to make sure your tools deal with the job thoroughly.
The blade cover is robust and automatically goes up and down when the saw is being used to minimise the blade being exposed.
The feet are sturdy and will hold the saw down on a good flat surface and can also be fixed to a work bench to make it very stable, especially when working with big jobs.
Spares And Repair
The customer back up is something that sets this saw apart from some of the others in this price range. Dewalt has a large UK network of service centres and dealers that hold spare parts and can get your mitre saw serviced or fixed very quickly. A tradesman needs to be able to rely on his tools and make sure they are in tip top condition, tools that break down are of no use. With this sort of support you should be able to make the Dewalt DW777 last for many years.
The Dewalt DW777 In Action
This is the perfect 240V saw to attach to quickly attach to your work bench in the garage, make a couple of quick cuts while you are working on a small project and then put back on the shelf for the next job. The compact size means its easy and quick to get out with little set up. Mitre saws are there to make jobs fast and accurate so they need to be easy to set up and this one is.
For the tradesmen who needs to be able to cut quickly and regularly this is an ideal saw as they are not in need of a top end model for high quality wood work. If you are a plumber or electrician who need to cut the odd bit of wood for a tight fit, then this is for you whereas it may be a bit limited for a carpenter.
For bigger DIY projects like building a large shed or greenhouse this is perfect, it will slice through the timbers with ease and give you a nice finish making construction very quick and accurate. No more wonky sheds that sway in the wind!
Value For Money
This saw is great value for money. It is a basic design that will tackle metal, wood and other materials with ease time and time again. The cutting capacity is good and it is built to withstand the pressures of commercial life. A great value choice for the DIY enthusiast and tradesmen looking for a simple but very effective mitre saw. The customer reviews are brilliant which speaks volumes.
Rounding It All Up
This is a classic saw designed to be tough and last a long time. It can take on many materials including metal and has the customer support to back it up if there are any problems. For the DIY enthusiast we would recommend stretching your budget to this saw, it could well save you money over the years and for the professional it will be a workhorse. The Dewalt brand is one to be trusted in the power tool world and we highly recommend this mitre saw.
